Biography
Should we still introduce Haïdouti Orkestar?

Established in the international music scene for nearly two decades, our band of spirited musicians from Turkey, France, Romania, and Serbia continues to blend cultures. Sometimes alongside trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf (the band co-signed the soundtrack for Mohamed Hamidi’s La Vache in 2016 and toured with him in 2019, 2022, and 2023); other times on the road, making prestigious stops at events like the Nice Jazz Festival, the Django Reinhardt Festival, and the Sacred Music Festival in Fez. The singer and saz player Rusan Filiztek joins the band for the new 2025 adventure!

Their 5th album, Yuh Yuh, is also the title of the opening track. Some might think these two syllables express joy, but don’t be mistaken—it’s a cry of protest! The song denounces the injustice of a certain political regime that subjugates its people, steals, deceives, manipulates, and lies shamelessly. Thus, Haïdouti offers us an album full of contrasts. Even in the choice of repertoire, which resembles an archipelago: traditional melodies sit alongside groovy, modern pieces born from original composition work. Like Harf’yle, the album’s final track, written by singer Zéki Ayad ÇÖLAŞ, whose inspiration is rooted in Alevi culture. At the opposite end of this poetic evocation, we are called to dance, for the duration of a song, with Toma Feterman featured on A l’Est. And then, with Junska Igra (composed by Alon Peylet), a tribute is paid to the great Tchaikovsky by giving a gypsy color to his famous “June Barcarolle.” A tribute is also made to Kurdish culture thanks to Edika Gunduz (featuring), who sings of love in Kurmanji (one of the three Kurdish dialects). Semlé evokes the name of the beloved one…
Thus, just as the archipelago forms a mosaic yet inseparable whole, these eleven tracks create a grand unity where joy and melancholy, anger and hope coexist. We are truly in tune with the spirit of our time…

Haïdouti Orkestar is a blazing brass band with a powerful rythm section, a hot shot accordionist and sultry voices at its forefront.
Based in Paris, the band has been exploring the musical heritage of the Balkans, Turkey, the middle east and beyond, for the past 14 years. It is made up of musicians from France, Greece, Turkey, and also gypsies from Romania and Serbia.
In 2016, the band was invited by Ibrahim Maalouf to record the original soundtrack of French movie ‘La Vache’ (‘The Cow’), directed by Mohamed Hamidi. The movie was a hit and the orchestra was invited to play at the Closing Ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival and blew the Palais des Festivals away with its communicative energy and powerful music.
Haidouti Orkestra is a human an musical adventure proud to represent France in its mutlicutural diversity. Fighting hate speeches and cultural isolationism, the band doesn’t want to build walls… on the contrary it rather climb over them.
